A Resolution of the Borough of Millvale, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, Recognizing the Black Eyed Susan (Rudbeckia Hirta) as the Official Flower of the Borough of Millvale.

Whereas, the Borough of Millvale Tree Committee conducted a vote to determine and recognize an official flower of the Borough of Millvale; and

Whereas, the Black Eyed Susan genus, Rudbeckia hirta, received the most votes and is being recognized as the official flower of Millvale; and

Whereas, the Black Eyed Susan is a Native American flower originating on the eastern coast of America, and

Whereas , the Black Eyed Susan is a hardy flower providing nectar to butterflies, bees, and insects; and

Whereas, the Black-Eyed Susan is described as "tough-as-nails"; and

Whereas the Black Eyed Susan is recognized as a symbol of justice.

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Borough of Millvale Tree Committee and Borough Council:

The Borough recognizes the native, hardy, tough-as-nails symbol of justice as having the character and strength of the Borough of Millvale and is the very symbol of Millvale and her people's spirit.

Resolved this 11th day of April 2023 by the Millvale Borough Council by vote that the Black Eyed Susan be and is here designated as the official flower of Millvale.
